WELCOME to the new shfd44.com VERSION 2.0 BLOG AND VLOG!

STATION 44′S OFFICIAL WEBSITE ENTERS A NEW GENERATION OF WEB TECHNOLOGY!

WELCOME to our shfd44.com VERSION 2.0! New, exciting web technology has allowed us to create this new BLOG and VLOG. For readers unfamilar with these terms, the term blog is short for web log, which a written topic on a website that has a running string of comments that can be read by all readers. A vlog is a video log that contains an embedded video (such as a youtube.com video posted on a website) that also has a running string of comments that can be read by all readers. Topics on this website will incorporate both blogs and vlogs.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS BLOG AND THE ENTIRE WEBSITE REMAINS UNDER CONSTRUCTION UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!

Much thought and preparation has gone into this new format, which has been tailored exclusively for the use on shfd44.com. This new format will be far more interactive and “live” than the previous version of the website. The old website was built on a static html page. To sum it up, I had to built everything from scratch, and then publish the entire website. Every time I wanted to make a change, no matter how small, I would have re-publish the entire website. This is why it took such a long time between updates. I had to make all the changes at once and publish. With our new php-based, RSS blogging technology, this former technology is way-obsolete, and the problems/delays it created are a thing of the distant past. You will find now that the shfd44.com homepage has a link to this blog which can be continually updated by multiple posters with comments that can be added by any reader. So now you will probably see perspectives from many sources, not just me, Pete Smith your humble shfd44.com webmaster. You can count on it that within a few weeks time, this blog and vlog will be updated almost daily, rather than the few months it took in the past to find changes on shfd44.com. You will find that the other pages of this site are still built on the old static html technology. This will stay the same for now, but eventually may change. It really won’t matter to much, as those pages don’t need to be updated very frequently, and the old format is fine for now.

Another advantage is that now you can search within the blog. So if you type in the name of your favorite Station 44 member or keywords of a specific story from the blog’s past, topics with those names or words will appear on your screen just like that! Try it!

A further benefit is that readers can bookmark this blog as a live bookmark on their computer’s web browser. This will enable readers to click onto the shfd44.com RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feed every time they go on-line, and see if there are updates to this blog. To do this, go down to the bottom of the blog page, and click on the underlined portion of Entries (RSS). This will bringĀ  you an easy-to-follow list of the current topics of this blog as they were published, and a chance to subscribe with one click. It’s simple! You can also live book mark the Comments (RSS) as well.

REMEMBER, be sure to leave comments, as that is the purpose of an interactive blog.
